The developer wanted the entire rooftop free for revenue-generating open-air cafes and seating, ruling out conventional top-discharge VRF outdoor units. ERATEC proposed Hitachi's compact, side-discharge SideSmart™ system, mounted on a dedicated rear service catwalk instead of the roof.

The Engineering Challenge
- The client required the entire roof level to remain completely clear of mechanical equipment to maximize revenue-generating retail space for open-air cafes, restaurants, and outdoor seating.
- Bulky traditional top-discharge outdoor units could not be installed without obstructing commercial views, creating acoustic disruption for cafe patrons, and interfering with roof architecture.
- Delivering 343.6 TR to multi-tenant retail zones without using standard rooftop plant platforms presented a critical spatial challenge.
